CRC’s Nolan Rayson Inspires Local Kids at Oliver W. Holmes Elementary School

STEM education is more than just a curriculum based on the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, it is the foundation for how future generations will understand the world and what is around them. Nolan Rayson, a Production Technician at California Resources Corporation’s (CRC) Huntington Beach operations, emphasized the importance of STEM skills in his work and throughout the oil and natural gas industry at Oliver W. Holmes Elementary’s recent Career Day in Long Beach.

Students were excited to learn about the variety of professions in the oil and natural gas industry and what CRC does in the community. He spoke about different job locations and employment opportunities and educated the group on CRC’s role in helping protect land, water and wildlife.

Nolan has been attending the Long Beach and Bellflower Unified School District’s Career Week programs for the past 14 years. Each year, CRC ranks at the top of the children’s list of which industry they would like to learn more about. Nolan strongly believes in making a positive impact on the next generation: “It is my hope that the kids I speak to understand they have the option to be successful in careers that are beyond sports and music. I want them to understand that the world operates and functions through jobs like mine and that what CRC does has a positive impact on human life. There are many options to do things in life that can be way cooler and way more meaningful than what they see on TV.”
